Ink and Insight: The Captivating World of Real Stories

I was twelve and I loved reading books. Every week, I and my best friend would wait for our library period so that we could get hands on the books that were distributed to our class. ( Quite a few of us were book worms and every body else were more than happy to lend their books to us!). From reading Alice in Wonderland, the Famous Five to reading adventures of Nancy Drew and books by Enid Blyton, Sidney Sheldon, Agatha Christie, we would read whatever was given to us. But somehow, in the vast school library, my eyes were always hooked on that one book section that held the the weight of countless narratives waiting to be uncovered. No, it was not the work of fiction, nor a fantastic tale spun from the depths of someone’s imagination that my eyes were looking for. Instead, it was a section that had a collection of real stories, the kind that had always held my heart captive. I don’t know why but from a very young age I found myself irresistibly drawn to the realm of real experiences — the world of autobiographies, biographies, encounters and first hand accounts!

As I delve into the pages of real stories, I find myself time-traveling through the annals of history. The narratives of nations rising and falling, like Jared Diamond’s “Guns, Germs, and Steel,” reveal the intricate web of factors that have shaped our world.
